You get home from school and there’s nothing ‘good’ to eat. You’re hungry and you need a snack – what’s a kid to do?

With Mom or Dads help you can make this fast, easy brownie recipe, one of my favorites – or try one of the many snacks listed in the column at the right.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup – 125 mL Butter or Margarine
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1 cup- 250 mL All-purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp. – 5 mL Vanilla flavoring
  • 1 cup – 250 mL Semisweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1/2 cup – 125 mL Brown Sugar Packed
  • 1/2 cup – 125 mL Chopped Walnuts

 

Method
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees Celsius). Grease 8×8 inch (20×20 cm) pan. Combine butter or margarine and chocolate chips in saucepan on low heat. Stir often until melted. Do not overheat. Remove to a hot pad.

2. Beat eggs in mixing bowl until frothy. Add sugar and vanilla. Beat to mix. Add chocolate mixture to this mixture. Stir.

3. Add flour and walnuts. Stir just until moistened. Scrape batter into pan. Spread evenly. Bake in oven for 25 minutes. Cool brownies before cutting. Enjoy!
